Over the last several decades,intellectual history,once a jewel among all subfields of historical study,has experienced a marked decline,thanks to the rise of social history in the 1970s and (new) cultural history from the late 1980s to more or less the present day.But interestingly,ever since the 1990s,if not earlier,it has caught ample attention among literary scholars,both in China and abroad.
