There is no denying that the Analects(Lunyu 論語)is one of the most widely read canonical texts in the history of Chinese thought and philosophy.Its acclaimed fame and readership,without doubt,come from the commonly held view that the Analects is the earliest and most extensive record of Confucius and his thought that the disciplines kept in order to preserve the wealth of his knowledge.Confucius and the Analects Revisited:New Perspectives on Composition,Dating,and Authorship can challenge this view,inasmuch as this volume reveals that the latest findings on the Analects have sparked disagreement among some scholars as to when the compilation of the text actually took place.
