T.C.Kline Ⅲ and Justin Tiwald, eds., Ritual and Religion in the Xunzi
The stated aim of Kline and Tiwald in Ritual and Religion in the Xunzi is to "support and develop the claim made by Edward Machle that Xunzi is a religious philosopher" [and that] "overemphasis on Xunzi's critique of religious practice arises from mistaken conclusions drawn from an examination of Xunzi's ritual theory" (1).To this end,the editors have divided the book into three sections:religious vision, ritual theory, and comparative approaches, with Machle's contribution forming the first of the book's seven chapters.
