This is an exceptional and inspiring collection of essays on the Zhuangzi.It starts with Professor Chen Guying's essay on the Zhuangzi's notion of qing (emotion).Chen has been the most influential figure in the study of Daoism in China and Asia since the 1970s.His monumental book New Interpretations of Laozhuang老莊今注今譯 has shaped the field for the last 40 years.In the present essay,he brings Zhuangzi's qing into a broad historical and literary context,and attempts to show how this notion affects the work of great literati from Wen-Jin to Song-Ming dynasty.
