Background:
Prof.John G Blair (1934-),a U.S.citizen,has spent more than half of his life in Western Europe.He received his A.B.summa curm laude from Brown University,his M.A.with honors from Columbia University,and his PhD (English and American Literature) from Brown University.He has taught at Oakland University and the University of Virginia in the U.S.and at the University of Strasbourg in France.From 1970 until his retirement in 2000,he was Professeur Ordinaire of American Literature and Civilization in the Department of English at the University of Geneva.He has published various articles and books,including Modular America:Cross-Cultural Perspectives on the Emergence of An American Way (1988) and others.Since his first visit to China in 1988,Prof.Blair has frequently served as a Visiting Professor at the School of English and International Studies,Beijing Foreign Studies University,focusing on comparative cultural studies and WCwCC (Western Civilization with Chinese Comparisons).
