Arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC) is a chronic,progressive,heritable cardiomyopathy and is one of the leading causes of sudden unexpected cardiac death in young,apparently healthy individuals.Prevalence of ARVC is estimated to be 1:1000-1:5000 and sudden death may be the first symptom of disease.Myocardial alterations are rarely detected at birth and recent knowledge has classified the condition as a genetically determined progressive cardiomyopathy.
