A notional syllabus is a syllabus that is organized according to general areas of meaning that are used in most grammars.Thus,meanings like location,frequency,duration,possibility and pastness are all universal concepts,and are each associated with particular grammatical forms.So,frequency is associated with adverbs of frequency (often,usually,never,etc) as well as with certain modality forms,such as used to,tendto and would (We would always spend our summers at the beach).
