[lexical approach]
A lexical approach to language teaching is one that has chosen vocabulary as the main focus for syllabus design and classroom teaching.This contrasts with traditional approaches,which usually focus on grammar.This lexical bias emerged out of developments in corpus linguistics,especially research into collocation and word frequency.Corpus research has shown that a great deal of language in use is highly predictable.Words are "primed" to cooccur with other words.
