What Do Teachers Think about EFL Coursebooks?
What image comes to mind when you think of learners of English? At this moment I am thinking of all the learners of English all over the world.I can see them sitting in a classroom with a coursebook in front of them.And what I see is boredom.I see the bored face of the learners and the very bored face of the teacher.I have witnessed such boredom in classrooms all over the world and it disturbs me.In a research project I undertook for a British publisher it became evident that in the twelve countries I was investigating coursebooks were selected by administrators and teachers for their help in standardization,preparation and assessment.Not one learner reported having any say in the selection of their coursebook and many reported boredom.
