摘要：

1 Born in Beijing in 1951, Shi Tiesheng gradu-ated from Tsinghua University High School. At the age of eighteen, he was sent to work in a rural area of Shaanxi and was paralysed (使瘫痪) in 1972. He died at the age of 59 in 2010. A painful journey ended after 38 years in a wheelchair and with three dialysis (透析) sessions per week for 12 years. However, his passion, talent, determina-tion, and attitude towards life made him never resign himself to fate. He was one of the major Chinese writers, regarded by many in his country as a tough guy.
