摘要：

Zhong was born in October 1936 at Central Hospital in Nanjing, Jiangsu, China, with his ancestral home in Xiamen, Fujian. Zhong grew up in a family of doctors. His father Zhong Shifan is a well-known pediatrician and his mother Liao Yueqin is one of the founders of the Tumor Hospital of Guangdong Province. Follow-ing the family tradition, Zhong Nanshan was ad-mitted to Beijing Medical University in 1955.
