Ask Teacher Joe!
@@ Question: Hello Teacher Joe! I have just graduated from college and am crazy about English. Recently I read a sentence in your magazine, College English. Here is the sentence:"Sam set out to improve efficiency at the shirt factory but, as we find out later in this unit, his plans did not turn out quite as he had expected."My question is the word "but" written before the comma. Why is it put there and how can I analyze this sentence?
