摘要：

China has made remarkable achievements in urban and regional planning as it is marching on a journey of modernization. The year 2022 marks the 40th anniversary of historic city conservation in China. The forty years have witnessed that Chinese historic city conservation started from scratch, from learning from other countries to self-exploration, from theoretical research to practice, as well as the formation of the Chinese characteristic historic city conservation planning concept and system.
